Christopher Brian Murray, age 49, of Fernandina Beach went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 24, 2017.

Chris loved his family.  His sons were the joy of his life. He enjoyed football, the outdoors, especially anything on the water and boating.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 6 years, Lauren (Langley) Murray, his parents, Lamar and Beth Murray, sons; Trey Christopher (Kaeleen) Murray, Cale Brian Murray, Colt Dustin Murray, Lake Cameron Murray and their mother, Patty Murray.  Son, Dillon Coe, granddaughter, Jetlynn America Murray, brother, Keith (Allison) Murray, sisters; Amy (Jason) Neil and Michelle (Pat) Sharpe, parents-in-law, Furman and Jeannie Langley, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many close friends.

Our hearts break but we give thanks for the love and times spent with our beloved brother, son, father and spouse.

Services will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Wain Wesberry officiating.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Oxley-Heard.

Chris was in my classroom my first day as a teacher, the first day Stanton College Preparatory School opened in 1981. I taught him at least four times while he was at Stanton and “launched” him across the stage at his high school graduation in 1986. I remember Chris as a overall, well rounded, good kid who was eager to learn, and I am so proud of the man he became. I wish I had the opportunity to tell him that again in person. My sincerest condolences go out to his family, other loved ones and friends as they face the difficult days ahead. A good person is gone from us all too soon, but we are all the better because our paths crossed.

I just flew with Chris last week. All he spoke of (with pride and joy) was his children and his wife. Prayers to all. It is hard when someone you love goes at such a young age. He was a dedicated father, husband and true professional. Chris will be missed but never forgotten. With sympathy, Joe & Tiersa

When one chooses to marry someone, they also make the choice to marry into that individual’s family. That choice can be a crap shoot on if your upbringing and experience would mesh with your new extended family. I am very, very fortunate that my marriage not only gave me a great wife, and children it gave me a great family as well.
Very important reason for that was because of the connection and bond that I formed with Chris. Though the teams that we rooted for were very different we connected through our love of Football and other activities (namely drinking Corona’s that Chris had lost in a bets to me). I am going to miss our talks, laughs, and the beers that you still owe me!

Sometimes life creates holes that will never be filled and only the memories remain. There will always be an aching and hunger for what was once real and now missing. Only time can heal and restore…the joy, the celebration of the life, the gift, the love shared. “I will Praise the Lord in every circumstance…for I know His Love and through Him, life is eternal. “
