Clifford G. Lewis

Mr. Clifford G. Lewis, age 75 of Fernandina Beach, FL passed away Sunday evening at Community Hospice of NE Florida. Mr. Lewis was born on December 4, 1940 in Clearwater FL, the only child born to the late Clifford Lanier and Celeste Kennedy Lewis. After receiving his high school education, Mr. Lewis enlisted in the United States Navy in 1958 where he served two tours in the Vietnam War and received his Honorable Discharge after 20 years of service as an Electrician Mate 1st Class. In 1978 he furthered his electrical career by joining Smurfit Stone Container Corporation in Fernandina Beach and retired there in 2006. He was very active in local organizations, VFW Post #4351, American Legion Post 54, as well as the American Legion Riders. He enjoyed his retirement by playing golf and fishing.

Along with his parents, Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by two sons.
He leaves behind his wife of over 34 years, Donna Lewis of Fernandina Beach, his children, Glen Lewis and his wife Tammy of TN, Nadine Burgtory of Michigan, Jimmy Lewis , Shelane Cox and her husband Jay of Bunnell, FL, Joe Taskonis of Wisconsin, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday June 1, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 2, 2016 in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard Funeral Home with Pastor Frank Camarotti officiating. Mr. Lewis will be laid to rest with full military honors on Friday at 1:30 pm at Jacksonville National Cemetery. The family invites you to a Celebration of Life from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Thursday following the service at the American Legion Post #54.
