Connie Hopkins Spivey, age 55, of Fernandina Beach, Florida passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at the Warner Center for Caring.
Born in Columbus, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Colquitt Dyal Hopkins and Frances Mizell Hopkins. After graduating from Charlton County High School in Folkston, Georgia in 1979, she attended FSCJ and JU in Jacksonville, Florida.
Through the years Connie was involved in the operations of Toledo Manufacturing Company, her family’s timber operations in southeast Georgia. Connie relocated to Fernandina Beach from Melbourne, Florida in 2015 to be near her daughters and grandchildren.
Connie’s family will always remember her for having a heart of gold and being someone who took care of everyone else before herself. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
She was preceded in death by her father in 1977 and her mother in 2012 as well as her son, Christopher Ryan Kohler in 2010, and her nephew Colquitt “Buck” Taylor in 2004
She leaves behind her daughters, Miale Spivey of Jacksonville, Florida, Brittany Spivey of Fernandina Beach, Florida, and honorary daughter, Stacy Arredondo of Jacksonville, Florida; sisters, Kay Hopkins Rhoden and her husband Barry of St. Augustine, Florida, Gloria “Dee” Davis of Folkston, Georgia and Sherri Little of Columbus, Ohio; former husband, Butch Spivey of Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren, Bradley Jones, Madalyn Duve, Christian Jones, Ryan Jones, Chase Hunt; nieces & nephews; Herbert “Benji” Taylor, Nicholas Taylor, Heather Morgan, and Meagan Taylor, aunts, uncles and many extended family members. Connie was expecting the birth of her sixth grandchild, Chance Hunt who is due to arrive on her birthday in December.
Services will be held Saturday, November 17, 2018 in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors at 2:00 PM.
