Daniel James Blount

Daniel James Blount

January 3, 1956 - February 5, 2020     Age: 64

Daniel J. Blount was born in La Grange, IL on January 3rd, 1956 and passed to our Lord on February 5th, 2020. A brilliant man in so many aspects, anyone who asked for advice could rely on informed, accurate, caring responses. Having an investigative mind and a hunger for knowledge, Dan would give his best to every task. He was a perpetual student of golf, always in pursuit of the perfect swing and loved a competitive game of Risk, which he delighted in winning.

Dan was proud to be a University of Illinois graduate who went on to get his MBA while working as CFO of Montgomery-KONE Escalator/Elevator Company. In 1998, he moved to Riverwood International/Graphic Packaging in Atlanta, GA where he held several high level positions, most notably working as Director of Acquisitions and CFO for a total of 18 years.

While always striving to better himself, he inspired those around him to do the same. Being the oldest of six with five younger sisters, his dedication to family was deep-rooted whether to his parents, siblings, wife and sons, or ever doting dog, Louie. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife Peggy, son Walker, stepsons Ian and Lyle, sisters Kim, Jayne, Sue, Chris, and Tracy, in addition to many nieces and nephews.

God gave Dan many talents, and he faithfully used those gifts and abilities to help his family, friends, and even strangers.

Well done good and faithful servant – Matthew 25:21

Services will be held at a later date.

Peggy, I am so sorry for your loss. I wish I had done better at staying in touch. He was one of the finest people I know, and he was wonderful to work with. My Christmas Tree sparkles with yearly memories of each crystal ornament that started a tradition that I still continue. My deepest sympathies to you and the boys.

    Peggy,
Dan couldnt have lived a better life having your support, love, and comfort as his wife. I hate your heart is broken but you have your own guardian angel watching over you. I know he will take good care of you just like you have for him.

I am so sorry to hear about Dan. As you may recall Dan was my driving range buddy as we both were trying to perfect our game. I last saw him coming out of the fitness center about two weeks go. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Ron and Dorothy Cheeley

Peggy, I am so sorry for your loss. I have fond memories of you, Dan and Louie sitting around the fire pit at Yappy Hour. Dan handled illness with dignity and grace and I am sure he approached life in the same way. He truly was one of the “good guys” who don’t come around that often in life. My thoughts are with you and Walker.

Peggy and family I am so very sorry for your loss. You are all in my thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time. I have so many fond memories of all the friendships I made with both peoples and animals at Yappy Hour…Such a wonderful way to get to know people and their animals. We have all been blessed to have had Dan in our lives. I am sure your children and family are there for you now and forever.
