Dustin Austin Demers

Dustin Austin Demers

December 28, 1990 - September 8, 2018     Age: 27

Dustin Austin Demers, 27, of Yulee passed away Saturday, September 8, 2018.

Born in Biddeford, ME, Dustin was the son of Ben and Diane Morissette Demers. He spent the first years of his life at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba while his father worked there. Dustin moved to Yulee with his family in 1994.

He graduated from Yulee High School and was a Ship Fitter at Submarine Base Kings Bay.

Dustin loved “hanging out” with his friends. In addition to spending time with his friends, he loved time in his boat, fishing, hunting and his Florida Gators. Additionally, He will be remembered as a hard worker. Whether it was at Kings Bay with the job he loved or working on his motorcycle and boat, his talents and knowledge served him well. He was able to do nearly anything he set his mind to. From yard work to taking care of chores around his home he was always busy.

He always had a smile on his face. He loved people and people loved him. Dustin was known for his kind heartedness. He would literally and figuratively give somebody the shoes off his feet or the shirt off his back if they had a need.

He leaves behind his parents, Ben and Diane Demers of Yulee; his sister, Justine Demers of Yulee; his paternal grandmother, Blanche Demers of Saco, ME; his maternal grandmother, Estelle Morissette of Biddeford, ME; his maternal grandfather, Laurent Morissette of Saco, ME; his uncles and aunts, Donald and Diane Demers, who are also his God Parents, of Old Orchard Beach, ME, Mark and Brenda Demers of Waterboro, ME, John and Sandi Demers of Biddeford, ME, David Demers of Hollis, ME, and Caryn and Richard Lambert of Biddeford, ME; his cousins, Sherri, Donna, Danie, Jenn, Jon, Joe and Dan; as well as his many friends.

Funeral services for Dustin will be held Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors.

The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 PM.

He will be laid to rest at Green Pine Cemetery at a later date.

We only visited with Dustin a couple of times at our son’s home when he and Brittany were there. One particular memory was when our dog, Midnight passed. Tom was trying to dig in the ground and Dustin came up and told Tom to let him so that. Tom and I have not forgotten Dustin’s kindness and gentle, caring heart. May God comfort your family during this difficult time. You are in our prayers.

So sorry for your loss, Dustin meant the world to my husband & I, He always had a smile on his face and a kind word for all. He was taken way too soon but I believe God had a reason for this , and only God will know until the time comes when he again touches someone else’s heart and then they will know. We grew to know and love Dustin for the fine man he was by him dating our grand-daughter Brittany . Even though that did not work out we still loved him for the person he was, and he will always be a part of our heart. Our deepest sympathy to all of your family in this tragic loss .

When I think of Dustin I can’t help but think of southern hospitality! His warm and welcome demeanor made you feel like a life long friends at a mere introduction. I had the privilege of getting to spend some time with him on a few occasions. I am sorry that I didn’t get to spend more time with Dustin. He will be sorely missed and many of us should emulate Dustin’s friendly, hard working, non-judgmental, and lovable nature.

My heart is broken for this sweet family.
My childhood wouldn’t have been complete without Dustin being the little brother following us around while we played in the woods. He left this world too soon. I love you guys and I’m thinking about you.

I had the privilege to work with Dustin. He always had a smile on his face and could always change the mood with his laughter. He will be greatly missed by many. If he only knew how much his Co workers loved hanging out with him and how much he touched them. God has invited Dustin home and Go Gators.
