Elizabeth McClure Imwold, age 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Quality Health in Fernandina Beach, Florida.
She was born in Columbus, Georgia on May 1, 1927 to Thomas David McClure and Ollie Lee Branton McClure. She was the sixth of twelve children.
The family moved many times during the depression as her father sought work, finally settling in Jacksonville Beach, Florida where Beth attended Fletcher High School. After living briefly in Atlanta and California, she returned to Jacksonville Beach where she met James A. Imwold on a blind date in May of 1954. They were married in October of that year and lived in Valdosta, Georgia for four years before moving to Atlanta, where they raised their three daughters. Jim’s career eventually had them moving to Chicago for several years before they retired to Amelia Island.
Through company award trips Jim earned, Beth and Jim traveled the world, visiting much of Europe plus China, Australia and New Zealand, as well as Mexico, the Caribbean, and Hawaii.
Jim passed away in 1997, but Beth is survived by her daughters Lisa Imwold Reese (Brad), Dana Imwold Dalton (Frank), and Amy Imwold Anderson; grandchildren Kayleigh Dalton, Kyle Dalton (Laura), and Andrew Dalton; and great-granddaughter Charlotte Dalton. She is also survived by sisters Jane Tibbs of Jacksonville, Pat Nash of St. Petersburg, and Gloria Youngblood Scott of Fernandina Beach.
The family will hold a private memorial service.
