Helen Jane Kayser

Mrs. Jane Kayser, age 85, of Amelia Island, passed away on Thursday morning, January 28, 2016 at Quality Healthcare of Fernandina Beach.
Born on September 1, 1930 in The Bronx of New York City, she was the only child born to the late Herbert Fowler Pierce and Marguerite Hallecy Pierce. She was educated at St. Barnabas, a private, all girls, Roman Catholic High School located in the Woodlawn Section of The Bronx where she was a member of the graduating Class of 1944. She worked for New York Bell Telephone and as a Fashion Model with the Powers Modeling Agency before marrying a childhood friend Paul Kayser in 1951. The newlyweds stayed in New York City until they moved to Nanuet, NY where they raised their two daughters and spent every summer on Fairfield Beach in Fairfield, CT.; before moving to Amelia Island Plantation in 1995.
Mrs. Kayser was a parishioner at St. Michael Catholic Church, Fernandina Beach, FL.
She leaves behind her husband of 64 years, Paul R. Kayser, Amelia Island, FL, their two daughters, Mary Jane Mitchell of Suwanee, her husband, John W. Mitchell who preceded her in death, Claire Feit and her husband, Marc, of Johns Creek, GA and grandchildren, Lindsay, Drew, Christy, Carly, Molly and Hanna.
Her family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 -7:00 in the Burges s Chapel of Oxley Heard where the Vigil Service for the deceased will be held at 6:00 pm with Deacon Art Treadwell, officiating.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at St. Michael Catholic Church with Reverend Father Gerard O ‘Shea, Celebrant.
Mrs. Kayser will be laid to rest in Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA.
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Hospital for Children.
