Jessica Lee Firster

December 11, 1971 - January 22, 2019     Age: 47

Jessica Lee Firster, 47, of Fernandina Beach passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2018.

Born in Silver Spring, MD on December 11, 1971, she was the daughter of Jack Prince and Mary Helene Beane.

She was raised in Jacksonville and graduated from Terry Parker High School. She worked as a Relocation Specialist for The Suddath Company.

She and her husband, Bruce moved to Fernandina Beach in June 2017 from Callahan.  They fell in love with everything about the community and spent so much time on the island they decided to start a new chapter of their lives in Jessica’s forever home.

Jessica loved her family and friends and was always willing to put the needs of others before her own; she would do anything to help anyone at any time.   Jessica made everyone’s day a little better with just a smile or by sharing a laugh.  She was outgoing and always loved meeting new people and seeing new places.   Jessica loved life and a simple stroll downtown to hear local musicians, taking day trips with her family, or spending time with friends just to have a drink and dinner made her happy.

She leaves behind her best friend and husband of 24 years, Bruce Firster; her children, Kyle and Emily Firster, both of Fernandina Beach; her mother, Mary Helene Beane of Jacksonville; her father, Jack Prince of Laurel, MD and her sister, Kristine Scratch of Jacksonville as well as many extended family members and friends.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate and remember her life Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 2:00 PM in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley – Heard Funeral Directors. Chaplain Jim Tippins of Baptist Medical Center, Nassau will officiate.

The family will receive friends and loved ones beginning at 1:30 PM.

Those desiring may make contributions in Jessica’s memory to The Children’s Tumor Foundation , 120 Wall Street, New York City, NY, 10005 or  www.ctf.org

Our hearts are broken and our lives will never be the same. Jessica’s amazing spirit will forever burn bright within us… I will forever miss the sound of her voice and her contagious laughter, our deep discussions (about stuff no one else cares about) – and those incredible hugs.

You and your family will remain in my thoughts and prayers.
    Always~

    Praying for the Firster/Prince families.
Jessica was the “sparkle” in our office. She was a kind, loving and caring person. She made the tough days better. We could always go to her if we needed a smile or encouragement. She will truly be missed. God has a new angel with “sparkle”. She is probably in heaven greeting new angels as they arrive, with her smile and sparkle. We will never forget her. We are praying for the family in their time of need.

Jessica will always hold a special place in Erin (my wife) and my heart. You see, Jessica introduced Erin to me when she worked with her at Prudential. Erin and I have now been married almost 27 years. We have such a heavy heart knowing this happened, it’s hard to understand. Our Prayers go out asking to give Bruce, Kyle and Emily the strength and healing the Firster and Prince family needs most at this time.

  • Erin Jackson Posted January 24, 2019 6:36 pm

I would not have the life I have today without Jessica introducing me to the one who I would marry 28 years ago. She was a great coworker, a wonderful friend and will be missed immensely. Her friends and family are in my heart, thoughts and prayers.
