John Woodrum Mandeville

June 16, 1935 - March 18, 2019     Age: 83

John Woodrum Mandeville, 83, of Fernandina Beach / St. Albans West Virginia, passed away Monday, March 18, 2019.

Born in Charleston, WV he was son of the late Carl and Anne Hash Mandeville. He was a graduate of South Charleston High School and eventually graduated from West Virginia State College with a Bachelor’s of Science in Physics.

He spent much of his working career with the Union Carbide Corporation and retired after many years service. He and his wife moved to the area in 2017.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Tammy Mandeville Smith and grandsons, Patrick and Sawyer Smith.

He leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Sandra Sawyer Mandeville of Fernandina Beach; sons, David Scott (Barbara) Mandeville of Beckley, WV and Matthew John (Caroline) Mandeville of Callahan; a daughter, Jodi Ann Mandeville of Asheville, NC; a brother, Jim (Susan) Mandeville of St. Petersburg, FL and seven grandchildren, Adam Smith, Eric Smith, Lucas Smith, Laurie Mandeville, Jeb Mandeville, Michael Mandeville and Jake Blount.

No local services are planned.  Mr. Mandeville will be returned to his native West Virginia for interment.   In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Hospice & Palliative Care, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257 or give online at support.communityhospice.com.

    I’m so sorry for your loss, we only knew John for a brief time at Osprey but I always enjoyed time with him when I would visit.
