Michael Lynn “Mickey” Malone, Sr., 54, of Fernandina Beach passed away Saturday, September 30, 2017 at West Jacksonville Health and Rehabilitation. Born in Jesup, GA, Mickey had lived in Fernandina Beach since he was 2 years old.

A son of the late James and Sharon Higginbotham Malone, Mickey graduated from Fernandina Beach High School in 1982 and before he became ill, he had served as a Dispatcher with the Fernandina Beach Police for over 8 years. Prior to working for Fernandina Beach Police Department, Mickey worked for Standard Marine for over 15 years.

The two biggest loves of his life were his children and the Florida Gators.

He leaves behind his four children, Keith Johns of Naylor, GA, Tiffany Malone of Hickox, GA, Michael Malone, Jr. and Alicia Malone, both of Fernandina Beach; his sister, Jennifer Hart of Alachua, his former wife, Tamara Malone of Fernandina Beach; his grandchildren, Chaddum Johns, Gannon Lane Batten and Aubrey Ann Badger, as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Services for Mr. Malone will be private and he will be laid to rest at LaFlora Mission Crematorium.

    Mickey was a great friend growing up. He had a heart of gold and was so kind. I’m so sad to hear of this. May God be with his family.

    Mickey was a good guy. My heart breaks for the his sister Jennifer and her husband, my good buddy Robert Hart. Mick was the manager of our football and he was always trying to help everybody to get better. God Bless you MM!
