Patricia Ann “Patti” Mayo

Patricia Ann “Patti” Mayo

December 9, 1963 - April 22, 2018     Age: 54

Patricia “Patti” Durham Mayo, a 7 year resident of the Fernandina Beach area, was welcomed from her home into Heaven on April, 22, 2018.  Patty was blessed to pass surrounded by her family in their home in Fernandina Beach, FL.

Born on December 9, 1963 in DeRidder, LA., Patti attended DeRidder schools and graduated from DeRidder High School in 1982.  Patti was a loving wife, mother and faithful servant of the Lord as she was an active member of Mercy Hill Church.  She was also an advocate for Breast Cancer Awareness, always reaching out to others who were fighting the same battle.  Patti’s faith in God and her determination to fight for so many years touched multiple lives across many states.  She often stated, “If Jesus could be crucified and die on the cross for me, cancer is nothing compared to the sacrifice He made for me.”  Her stories of inspiration and courage inspired so many people that they were compiled in an e-book which celebrates her persistent faith and unique courage during some very trying times.  Patti is known for her ease in frequent conversation, even with total strangers. Patti will be remembered for her infectious laughter, her love of life and a smile that could light up a room.

Patti’s transition into Heaven is preceded by her parents, R.E. “Buddy” Durham and Catherine Delia Durham; her brothers, Michael W. Durham and Robert “Bobby” Durham.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Brent Mayo of Fernandina Beach, FL; her sons, Justin Mayo and his wife Kimberly “Kimmie” of Smyrna, GA and Sgt. Joshua Mayo, USAF.  In addition, she is survived by her brother, David L. Durham and his wife Charla; father and mother-in-law, Gene and Carolyn Mayo; sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Shannon Jantz all of DeRidder, LA.  She is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a long list of other loving family members a and family friends.

Family will gather together to honor and celebrate Patti’s life:

On Tuesday, April 24, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Oxley-Heard Funeral Home in Fernandina Beach, Florida.

Her visitation will resume on Thursday, April 26, 2018 from 5:00 to 9:00 pm at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana with a Rosary Service starting at 7:00 pm.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 27, 2018 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in DeRidder, LA.  Burial will follow at the Beauregard Memorial Cemetery in DeRidder.

It all seems like a nightmare that my dear friend/sister by heart, Patti, has passed on to Heaven. To be absent from the body, she is surely with the Lord. I have been missing our “visits” via telephone, and every once in a while in person, for quite some time now, but she will always be in my heart. I am so thankful for our 24 year friendship/sisterhood. Brent, Justin, Kimmie and Josh, I love you guys and I’m hurting along with you.
