Ralph Palumbo

Mr. Ralph J. Palumbo of Fernandina Beach, FL passed away at his home on Saturday, July 9, 2016. He was born on February 20, 1935 in Homewood, PA to Rose Traingate and Ralph Palumbo.

Ralph graduated from Westinghouse High School in 1953. He served in the National Guard from 1953-1954, then enlisted in the US Army. He served from 1955-1957 in the 17th Infantry Division, Korea 7th Division. After being honorably discharged he worked as a photographer for the Progress Newspaper and then as a pressman at Herbick & Held Printing Company. Later he worked as maintenance manager for the Sri Venkateswara Temple in Pittsburgh, PA, from where he retired in 2001.

He moved with wife Linda to Fernandina Beach, FL in 2006 where he became an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Fernandina Beach. He was known by all as a kind, loving and happy man with a “funny” sense of humor. He loved photography, gardening, dancing, bowling and the beach.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother Phil Palumbo and sister Mary Studnicki.

Ralph is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Linda, with whom he shared twenty-two beautiful years. He is also survived by his two daughters, Rena (Todd) Novak and Michelle (Robert) Celedonia, his son, Michael (Kelley) Palumbo, and step-daughter Lisa Beamer. Ralph is also survived by two grandchildren, Zachary and Kyle, three step-grandchildren, Zachary, Christopher and Emma and one step great-grandson, Ashton as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at the First Presbyterian Church of Fernandina Beach with the Reverend Dr. Wain Wesberry and the Reverend Dr. Doug Ganyo, officiating.

His family will receive friends following the service in Jim Thomas Hall.

Mr. Palumbo will be laid to rest in Jacksonville National Cemetery.
