Robert W. Fredrickson

December 27, 1934 - August 3, 2018     Age: 83

Robert William “Bob” Fredrickson, 83, died peacefully on August 3rd, 2018, in Amelia Island, FL,
surrounded by his family, after suffering a stroke the prior week.

A memorial service is to be held 2 PM, August 5th, 2018 at Amelia Plantation Chapel, Fernandina Beach, FL. A celebration of
life will be held at a later date.

Bob was born December 27th, 1934 in Chicago, IL to Paul G. Fredrickson Sr. and J. Seena
Fredrickson. He was raised in Clarendon Hills, IL, and moved to a farm in West Chicago as an
adolescent. Bob attended West Chicago High School, where he met Barbara Glasshagel, the
love of his life. He was also elected a class officer, an early demonstration of his fiery passion
for politics.

Bob’s commitment to civic engagement continued after high school when he served in the U.S.
Army from 1954-1956. Following his service, Bob attended the University of Denver, where he
graduated with a degree in Business Administration, specializing in Hotel and Restaurant
Management.

Bob and Barb married in West Chicago on December 22, 1957.

Bob worked as an executive in the food service industry, spending much of his career at
Northern Illinois University. He enjoyed time spent with his family traveling and at his home on
Forest Lake in Land O’ Lakes, Wisconsin. “Gramps” was happiest in the company of his
grandchildren, with whom he spent many hours. His great tradition was to teach each how to
drive a manual transmission on his PT Cruiser. He also had a passion for cars and loved to
drive, buy, sell and shine, a hobby that he is surely continuing.

Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Dick Frederickson.

Bob is survived by his wife of sixty years, Barbara Fredrickson, two children, Steve Fredrickson
(Mara) and Kathy Bailey (Steve), brother, Paul G. Fredrickson and six grandchildren, Andrew Fredrickson, Peter Fredrickson, Jenna King (Brian), Alise Bailey, Megan Bailey, and Hannah Bailey.
