Audrey Smith Fowle

Audrey Smith Fowle, 91, of Amelia Island, Florida passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2020 at The Retreat at Osprey Village.
A resident of Osprey Village where she and her husband of 52 years, the late Wilson F. Fowle, Jr., moved in 2001, she follows many loved family members and friends, and leaves behind many who mourn her loss on this side.
Throughout her life �Aunnie� was an avid sportswoman who enjoyed skiing, cycling, hiking, tennis, horseback riding, and golf. She was a wonderful wife and mother, and a courageous, gracious and independent woman, as well as a lifelong Episcopalian. Among her areas of expertise were crochet, knitting, bridge and needlework.
Having grown up in New Jersey, Audrey lived in New York, Connecticut, Georgia, Vermont, Virginia, and Missouri before settling on Amelia Island for the last 19 years. She also had three opportunities to live overseas for a season in Indonesia, Egypt and Turkey.
Audrey had a long and loving marriage to Wilson F. Fowle, Jr. until his death in 2002.
She is survived by a son, Wilson F. Fowle, III, of Wausau, Wisconsin, a daughter, Sara Fowle Wolf of Ridgefield, Connecticut, and five grandchildren Alec, Madeleine, Wilson IV, Lisa and Carrie.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at the Osprey Village Memory Garden at 11:00 AM.

I always enjoyed playing golf with Audrey at The Landings. We had fund reminiscing about friends and family on the Jersey Shore. She was a great gal and I missed her when she moved to Florida. Homer and I send our condolences to her children

I visited with Audrey several times last year as a shepherd from St Peters Episcopal Church in Fernandina Beach. It was very enjoyable getting to know her and her dog. She will be missed.

Ken and I met Audrey for the fist time about ten years ago as we walked the beach early in the morning, Audrey was with her dog Lovie and we were walking our two Scotties. We quickly came to appreciate Audrey�s great sense of humor and infectious smile and looked forward to seeing her and Lovie every morning. Over time we became friends. At Christmas, Audrey always put a large Nutcracker Toy Soldier on her front porch at Osprey Village. When our grandson Bayard was about three years old, we took him with us on a visit to Audrey. Bayard was captivated by the Toy Soldier. When Audrey moved from her house at Osprey to what she called the Big House, she gave the Toy Soldier to Bayard. Now every Christmas, it stands on the Front Porch of Bayard�s family�s house. It will forever remind all of us of Audrey. She was a wonderful, kind, thoughtful woman. We regret not seeing her recently. She was the best!
