When our dad died in 1962 she was first Friend to come see my sister after his death. Never ever will forget her showing up to start our healing. She also was the referee when bill and were throwing elbows at each other. We both would stop and stand at attention. She was on my side about half the time. You don’t know how much you love someone until there done.

Ginny, Amy and Bill, our deepest sympathies in the loss of one of the bright stars in my life in Fernandina. She and I were members of one of MUMC's early Stephen Ministry teams, and I grew to deeply love and appreciate her. She adopted me and any time we saw each other there was always a moment to share what was going on in our lives. I was made a better person through her influence.

Ms. Chris was an amazing woman who inspired everone. I became involved with her during the early years of the formation of the YMCA when she was a founding member. We worked together for many years growing and building the Y to what it is today. No one worked harder or was a better example of what a leader should be. I will miss her dearly but know that her legacy will live on. God bless to everyone!!

What a beautiful lady - inside and out. I am honored to have known her and to have been her friend. I will miss Mrs. Chris' enthusiasm and positivity, her generosity and kindness, and her wonderfully honest sense of humor (I can still hear her hearty laugh). I will miss her tremendously, but I'm praising God she is now in the presence of her Savior, hearing "well done". Mr. Bill, Ginny, Amy and family - you are on my mind and in my prayers. I know the magnitude of her presence in your lives and I'm familiar with the loss. May God comfort you and hold you during the days, weeks and months to come. May He in time replace your sorrow with joy. Much love to you all.

Irreplaceable, that is what Chris Bryan is to Fernandina Beach. Like so many I met Chris for the first time when she was getting me involved in supporting one of her worthy causes. Years later I was able to return the favor by asking her to serve on the hospital board. She was in all things a force for good. Bill, Ginny and Amy may God give you strength to endure these difficult days. May you know that few who have walked among us could be compared to Chris Bryan.

Chris is a beacon of hope to all who come in contact with her. I will forever be grateful to her and her passion as a servant leader and for her legacy in this community and throughout the hallways of Baptist Nassau. She was a mentor, not only professionally but personally. Chris has such a kind soul and made Kristie and me feel welcome on day one to Fernandina. Such a special friendship developed. Chris, I and the team will miss your smile and graciousness. I will also miss your laughter, shared stories, and debates about where the best shrimp can be found. You have been a blessing to all of us! We love you.

Bill, Ginny & Amy: Thank you for sharing Chris with us at Baptist Health. She was an extraordinary person who exemplified our mission and caring for others. We will always be indebted to her for her leadership and service as a member of the Nassau Board. Personally, she meant so much to me as she was always quick with a comment about my Crimson Tide, and I always gave her a big Gator Chomp back. She was an influence on so many. Our prayers are with you during this time, and we will continue to honor every day!

Bill and Family: I am so sorry to hear about Chris, but so glad that I exchanged texts with her during the past holidays. I will cherish those messages. I Chris saying that they grew up more like sisters than cousins. I had the opportunity to do business with Chris through the years while I was still in Fernandina. So very sorry for the loss of Chris, she was an inspiration and a true friend to everyone. Years ago, Chris called me about coming to work for them, but at the time, Terry and I were just starting our own business, Property Management Systems, so i couldn't accept. My regret was not having a chance to build a stronger relationship with her, she was an amazing person.

Christina Hall Bryan, age 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family.
Chris was born on September 18, 1945, at Humphreys Memorial Hospital in Fernandina Beach, FL. She was raised and attended school in Fernandina Beach and graduated from Fernandina Beach High School in 1963. Following high school, Chris attended college at the University of Florida in Gainesville. She was a member of the Chi Omega sorority and received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Upon finishing her college degree, she moved to Jacksonville, FL and began her teaching career.
On a blind date in 1969, Chris met “the love of her life,” William “Bill” Edward Bryan. The following year, Chris and Bill were married at Memorial United Methodist Church and returned to Fernandina Beach. Several years after they wed, they welcomed their two daughters, Virginia “Ginny”, and Amy.
Chris taught elementary school for 10 years and then began to work for the Hall family businesses. Over the years, she was an integral part of running and operating Island Seafood Company and Florida Petroleum Corporation in Fernandina Beach, as well as Rex Packaging Corporation in Jacksonville, FL.
Chris was a passionate person with a heart of gold. She believed in the greater good and was always willing to find the ray of sunshine or the glimmer of hope. She believed in God, her country, her church, her Florida Gators, her hospital and her community. Fernandina was her home and she always cared for her community and the people in it. She dedicated her time to many organizations and boards that were special to her.
She was fortunate to be a long-time member of the Memorial United Methodist Church. Chris freely gave of her gifts and talents at the church that she loved. She was involved in Circle groups, Stephen Ministries, fundraising, capital campaigns and many other tasks.
Passionate about the Gators, her family were season ticket holders since the 1950s. She always enjoyed going to games with her dad and brother and then later continued the tradition attending games with her daughters, grandchildren, and best friend, Pam. Chris served on the Gator Booster Board of Directors since 2005. She became a Bull Gator in 2007. She was the third female president of the Gator Booster Board of Directors in 2008. She served during the year, that the UF Football and UF Basketball teams became National Champions!
Chris believed in the health, wellness and education of her community. She served as a founding member of the McArthur Family YMCA beginning in 1987. She faithfully served 12 years on the Baptist Medical Center Nassau board and served as the chairperson for 3 years. She had the pleasure to sit on the Baptist Health Foundation Board and was a member of the executive committee. She was a founding member of the Fernandina Beach High School Foundation that raises money to support education in our local high school. She recently became involved with the Nassau County Council on Aging. This organization provides activities and services for our aging community, including meals, transportation, health, nutrition, socialization, and much more.
