Deborah Daniel Colsen

2020-09-03

Deborah Daniel Colsen, 65, of Brunswick, Georgia passed away Thursday, September 3, 2020 at Southeast Georgia Health System Hospital in Brunswick.

Ms. Colsen, a Fernandina Beach native and a beloved member of the community, was a daughter of the late Robert K. Daniel and Geraldine Carter Byrum.

She was a member of the Fernandina Beach High School Class of 1973. Her first and most loved job was with Hardee Brothers Co. Over the years she worked as a bookkeeper at local businesses, and most recently as a cashier and salesperson at Michael Smith Estate Sales.

She moved to Brunswick with her family in 1997 and made her home there for over a decade, eventually moving back to her home to Fernandina Beach in 2012. She lived here until 2018 when she moved to Blakely, Georgia to be closer to family.

Family always came first for Ms. Colsen, and in her spare time she enjoyed being surrounded by her daughter, friends, family, neighbors, her dog Rudy and cat, Twinkle Toes.

She leaves behind her daughter, Hayley Napfel and her son-in-law, Zachary of Brunswick; her brother, Kurt Daniel of Yulee; her sisters, Gail Hair and her husband, Tony, and Sandy Morris, all of Fernandina Beach, as well as her nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Ms. Colsen will be laid to rest with her mother in Bosque Bello Cemetery at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 26, 2020

Prayers go out to Debbies family.
I went to school with her from Yulee to Fernsndina.
She was considered my friend. I really enjoyed talking with her and then I discovered her at Ace Hardware and would go see her.

Best friend and surrogate family gone too soon. Once a student and later a dear trusted friend. An altruistic and noble lady who bore her illness with great valor. A melancholy overwhelms my being and shall always remain an emptiness in my soul.
