Denver B. Reid

Mr. Denver Brent Reid, age 63, of Fernandina Beach, Florida, passed away Tuesday evening, August 29, 2017 at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville.
He was born on Saturday, September 19, 1953 in Carrollton, GA, the son of the late Nina and Buel Durward Reid. He graduated from Bowdon High School in 1972.
He had worked with BE&K Construction for 30 years in Tennessee and at the Paper / Pulp Mill in Fernandina. He finished his career at Jacksonville Electrical Authority.
Mr. Reid served his community in many ways. He volunteered for years at the American Cancer Society and the Journey Church Food Ministry. He was a Mason, member of the Scottish Rite Bodies, the Morocco Shrine Temple and the Fernandina Beach Shrine Club; often raising money for these causes. He also enjoyed developing relationships in CMAN, the Christian Men�s Association Network. Mr. Reid was an active member of the Journey Church in Yulee.
In additions to his parents, he was preceded in death by an adopted daughter, Kira Harroll.
Denver is survived by his loving wife, Joni Hughes Reid of Fernandina Beach with whom he would have celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary on September 1st of this year.
He also leaves behind a sister, Mira Jo Dudley, life-long friend and cousin, Steve Carroll, son and daughter-in-law, David & Katie Reid of Carrollton, GA, and daughter and son-in-law Candace & Mickey Ivey as well as 5 grandchildren, Malachi Ivey, Abigail Reid, Benjamin Reid, Joseph Ivey, and Rosemary Reid, his brother-in-law Danny Hughes and his favorite niece, Chelsea Tillson.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Journey Church with Pastor Rick Lee and Rev. David Reid officiating.
He will be laid to rest in Bosque Bello Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 � 7:00 pm at Oxley Heard Funeral Home.
