Edward W. Williams

Mr. Edward W. Williams, 81, of Fernandina Beach passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Quality Health of Fernandina Beach.

Born in Nahunta, GA he was a son of the late Burney W. and Ruby Knox Williams. He moved to Fernandina Beach in 1957 and served proudly in the U. S. Army.

Mr. Williams retired as a supervisor with Terminal Bag Company and also served as a deputy sheriff in Camden County, GA.

In 1980 he married the former Donnie Lee Herndon and their marriage would last until her passing in August of this year.

He leaves behind two brothers, Donnie Williams and his wife, Linda, of Henrietta, NY and Ernest Williams and his wife, Shirley, of Pueblo, CO; two sisters, Gail Cleland and her husband, Terry, of Nahunta and Shirley Clark and her husband, Walter, of Yulee as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 8, 2020 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Oxley-Heard Funeral Home.

A graveside funeral service will be held Thursday, January 9, 2020 beginning at 2:00 PM at Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Brantley County, GA. His nephew, Pastor Ricky Knox will officiate.

He will be laid to rest beside his wife following the service.

My sincere condolences for all the family. Edward was a true Christian man, as a husband, father, brother, uncle and friend to all that knew him. I know his loved ones will miss him. You are all in our thoughts and prayers during the loss of your loved one.
