Eleanor Y. Cook

Eleanor Y. Cook, 82, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Saturday, March 1, 2025.

Mrs. Cook was born in Jacksonville and was the daughter of the late Earl and Mattie Sikes Parker. Mrs. Cook moved to Nassau County after her marriage to Mr. Edgar G. Cook in 1958.

She was a homemaker who was an active and faithful member of New Life Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and different kinds of crafting. Mrs. Cook also enjoyed visiting thrift stores where loved finding a “good bargain”. She was a good cook who loved and cared for her family deeply.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Floyd Thompson, Julian Thompson, Johnny Parker, Kenny Parker and James Parker.

She leaves behind her husband of 67 years, Edgar G. Cook of Fernandina Beach; her children, Gerald Cook and his wife, Cindy, of Jacksonville and Karen Cook of Fernandina Beach; her brother, Earl Wayne Parker and his wife, Becky, of Palm Coast; four grandchildren and one great grandchild as well as an extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services for Mrs. Cook will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at 3:00 PM at New Life Baptist Church with Pastor Truman Blankenship officiating. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 2:00 PM.

She will be laid to rest at Chester Cemetery.
