Eric J. Luria

2021-05-05

Eric J. Luria, age 74 of Fernandina Beach, FL passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 comfortably at his home.
Mr. Luria worked for the Lakeland School District as a Transportation Supervisor and School Bus Driver in Westchester County, New York for over 27 years. Eric thoroughly enjoyed the “kids”. Not only did he get to see them every day as he took them back and forth to school but over the years, he had the opportunity to watch them grow up, and then driving their children to and from school.
After his retirement he and his wife, Jackie discovered Fernandina Beach on one of their many trips searching for a new home. They fell in love with the island making it their home for the past 17 years.
Eric was a longtime Harley-Davidson enthusiast, restoring many vintage motorcycles and dearly loved riding. He also loved cars and had a passion for rebuilding them, as he said "the older the better"!
Eric also had a passion for boating, taking many memorable trips on the Hudson River. He became Fleet Captain for the Kings Ferry Yacht Club organizing many trips with the members.
Eric thoroughly enjoyed listening to music and playing his guitar. Over the past few years Eric found a new hobby of rebuilding antique Lionel Trains and all of the accessories dating back to the 1940's, his favorite were locomotives.
Eric was predeceased by his parents Lillian and Leon Luria. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 29 years, Jackie; his beloved cat “Harley”; his sister in law Carol, many nieces and nephews as well as many friends who will miss him dearly.
There will be a small family service to celebrate and remember his life at a later date.
