Faye S. Key

2023-08-14

Regina Faye Key, lovingly known as Faye, peacefully passed away on August 14, 2023, at the age of 84 in Yulee, Florida. She was born on April 27, 1939, in Jacksonville, Florida. Faye will be remembered as a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, a loving mother & grandmother, a beloved sister, and a faithful friend.

Faye leaves behind her sister, Becky Little and her husband, Butch Little, her brother, Ralph Sowell Jr., her son, Robert Earl Dawson, her daughter, Deborah Faye Dawson, her son, Edward Corey Dawson, and his wife, Debra Gili-Dawson, along with their sons, Walker Chandler Dawson, Edward Corey Dawson Jr. "Cooper," and Tanner Ronald Dawson. She was preceded in death by her Father, Ralph Sowell Sr. "Red," her Mother, Doris Lucile Sowell, her Sister, Myrna Smith, and her Husband, Bernard Key.

Faye graduated from Yulee High School. Her professional endeavors included working at Brandon Photography, Southern Bell Telephone Company, owning and operating Southside Playschool Daycare for an impressive 16 years. In addition, she was a co-owner of Crafty Ideas Craft Shop on Amelia Island. Faye later retired from the Nassau County School Board.

Faye had a strong connection to her faith and was a member of Springhill Baptist Church, where she worshipped and served using her gifts to provide love for children with creative & unique snacks during Vacation Bible School and driving the Church Bus (back in the day). She found joy in playing the piano, sewing, canning, and quilting. These hobbies brought her immense happiness throughout her life.

A memorial service to celebrate Faye's life will be held at Springhill Baptist Church located at 941017 CR-107, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034 on Tuesday August 22, 2023. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM and the service will begin at 11:00 AM.

She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Bernard at Springhill Cemetery.

Faye will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, faith, and dedication to her family and friends will forever be cherished
