Mrs. Janet C. Meade passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at her home in Fernandina Beach at the age of 102. Mrs. Meade was born in Punxsutawney, PA on May 6, 1914. She was the daughter of the late John and Harriet F. Corona.
Janet moved to the state of Virginia in the late 1920�s where she met her future husband, Roy Meade. They married in 1930 and had 9 children. Roy Meade worked in the coal fields in VA and WV until his death in 1966 in Beckley, WV. Mrs. Meade was a home maker during her husband�s life, after which time she began her work in the health care field. Janet worked tirelessly both outside and inside the home to raise her family and to provide an education for all her children who so desired one.
She has lived the past 17 years both in Clay County, WV and Florida. She was renowned for her outstanding cooking and baking.
She is survived by 2 of her children, Mrs. Peggy Goin of Gibson City, IL and her son David L. Meade, Esquire of Fernandina Beach, FL.
She is also survived by more than 50 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and many great-great grandchildren.
She will be interred in the Blue Ridge Memorial Garden Mausoleum where she will rejoin her husband of 36 years.
