For nearly 40 years I have traveled to Fernandina for family vacations and we were always welcomed by Uncle Alva. He would pick us up from the airport and take us golfing and entertain us with endearing stories of growing up on the island. A kind and loving family man, he was a joy to be around. He loved to laugh and join in family game nights. He excelled at calling Bingo and was a generous host to his great niece and nephews. He was always the first to volunteer if someone needed help.I will treasure our last visit a month ago. We will miss him greatly. We are keeping his family in our thoughts and prayers. Hugs

Uncle Alva was someone I always looked forward to seeing. His stories could keep you entertained for hours. I am especially thankful for all the time he and my dad were able to share together. I know he is now rejoicing in heaven with all of our loved ones.
