John E. Mansfield, Sr.

Mr. John Earl Mansfield, Sr., age 86 of Amelia Island, Florida passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the Mayo Hospital in Jacksonville.

He was born on May 22, 1932 in Richmond, Virginia to the late James Russell Mansfield and Alene Quincy Mansfield. He grew up in southwestern Georgia, graduating from Blakely High School and then obtained his Bachelor�s of Science Degree in Business from Georgia State University.

Mr. Mansfield, a successful business owner, founded and operated Mansfield Oil Company in Gainesville, Georgia and Mycelx Technologies in Duluth, Georgia.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Mansfield was preceded in death by a grandson, Jonathan Mansfield, and son-in-law, Mark Mixon.

He leaves behind, his wife of 35 years, Betty G. Mansfield of Amelia Island, Florida; his children, Virginia Hager and her husband Mark, of Atlanta, Georgia, Connie Mixon of Atlanta, Georgia, John Mansfield, Jr. and his wife Jill, of Gainesville, Georgia, Michael Mansfield, Sr. and his wife Kim, of Atlanta, Georgia, Sherrie Douglas and her husband Jim, of Long Island, New York; his sister, Joan Bowden and her husband Otis, II, of Amelia Island, Florida, his brother, James Mansfield of Buford, Georgia; his grandchildren, Jessica Kim and her husband, Matthew, Stephen Hager, Matthew Hager and his wife, Olivia , Martin Underwood and his wife Clay, Natalie Shirley and her husband Blake, Morgan Mixon, Greer Mansfield, David Mansfield, Alyssa Hosch and her husband, Cody, Ramsey Hill, Olivia Wall and her husband Zach, Michael Mansfield, Jr. and his wife Amanda, Sam Mansfield and his fianc�e Caitlyn, Tim Douglas, Maura Douglas and her fianc�e Jeremy, William Douglas and Jack Douglas; his great-grandchildren, Skylar, Vivian, Winnie, Jeannie, Frances, Blake, Jack, Chandler, Zach, Quincy, Fred and Harriett. He also leaves behind the mother of his children, Winnie Chandler LeClerecq, as well as many extended family members whom he dearly loved.

Funeral services will be Held at 11:00 AM Thursday, January 3, 2019 Amelia Plantation Chapel with the Reverend Doctor Conrad Sharps officiating. There will be a reception following the service at Walker�s Landing. He will be laid to rest in Bluffton Cemetery in Bluffton, Georgia on Friday, January 4, 2018 at 1:00 PM.
