Judy Mae DePugh

2020-02-13

Judy Mae De Pugh, 83, of Fernandina Beach passed away Sunday, February 9, 2020 at the Warner Center for Caring.

Born in Tallahassee, Judy Mae was a daughter of the late Charles R. and Ella Mae Scott Woolery.

Judy Mae attended the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind in St. Augustine from 1944 until 1953. She graduated with honors. While there Judy was involved in many school activities and excelled both academically and in such sports as cheerleading, basketball, soccer and volleyball.

Judy and a classmate were awarded a full scholarship to Georgetown University Center for the Deaf in Washington, DC. Prior to graduation in St. Augustine Judy and her classmate were invited to visit Georgetown for two weeks and were able to fully experience life on campus, including staying in one of the dormitories. Although they both enjoyed the trip immensely, both Judy Mae and her classmate turned down the opportunity deciding it was just too far from home. After graduation in St. Augustine, Judy Mae married and started her family.

Judy Mae worked for many years with Southern Bell in data entry.

In addition to her parents, Judy Mae was predeceased by a grandson, Austin; a granddaughter, Dana; a sister in law, Joyce Woolery and a brother in law, Ronnie Weinberg.

Judy leaves behind her four children and their families. Her eldest son is J. D. Williams, Jr. and his wife, Sandy; her eldest daughter, Judy Ann Ayers and her husband, Robbie; her youngest son, John Mark Williams and his wife, Lydia and her baby girl, Audrey W. Lloyd and her husband, Danny. Judy also leave behind her grandchildren, Donny Williams, Danny, Jr., Darean, Timothy Don, April Reel (Steve) and Morgan (Kristin) as well as 28 great grandchildren.

A celebration of life memorial gathering will be held at the American Legion Post 54 in Fernandina Beach on Saturday, March 14 from 1:00 4:00 PM. Audrey Lloyd along with her family invites everyone to come and share their stories of how Judy Mae touched their life while enjoying a wonderful meal in her honor. Meats, such as ribs, chicken, fried turkey, and hot dogs will be prepared by awesome family chefs, son in law, Danny, grandson, Morgan and great friend Jerry Cooner. Those attending may bring a favorite covered dish .

Memories

TERRI February 22, 2020
We do not lose the ones we love
They only go before.
Where there is everlasting Life
Where sorrow is no more.
And there the soul will always live
And peace is everywhere.
We do not lose the ones we love
God takes them in His care.
