Bobbie Taylor
Jeepie and I became friends through my friendship with his lovely wife Valerie. For some reason Jeepie and I hit it off as friends and always had a unique friendship based on trust and a common ground of loving his whole family. I had the privilege of talking to Jeepie about his Salvation and his relationship with JESUS and he told me he was confident in his relationship and where he would would spend ETERNITY with his LORD JESUS and I have no doubt he is in Heaven today. I selfishly will miss Jeepy he was a joy to talk to all the time. Love to Valerie, Melissa, and Justin and the rest of his family and friends. GOD will continue to comfort you all.
Julius E. Platt
2022-03-22
Julius E. Platt, 66, of Yulee passed away after a lengthy illness at his home on Tuesday, March 22, 2022.
Born in Jacksonville, he was a son of the late Eddie M. and Louise Higginbotham Platt.
Mr. Platt worked as an Iron Worker and was a member of Local 597 in Jacksonville. He was a hard worker, but his wife and family were always his priority. He was a ball coach for both Justin and Melissa through the years. He and his wife, Valerie, always had the house all their children’s friends came to for activities and enjoyable times. His sense of ethics and courage were contagious. He always reminded his children to “do it right or not at all” and “don’t quit”.
In addition to his family, Julius enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. He loved being in the woods or on Nassau Sound whenever he could. He was also a great guitar player. He had an amazing sense of humor. He could diffuse nearly any argument with that sense of humor. He could quickly turn any argument into a joke, and everyone would be laughing before it was all over.
Julius will be missed by all who knew him but especially those he loved without reservation, Valerie, Melissa, and Justin. Julius loved the Lord with all his heart. He was a member of Mercy Hill Church where funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends at Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors Monday, March 28, 2022, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM.
In addition to his parents, Julius was predeceased by a sister, Nancy Platt Ford and a brother, Eddie Platt.
He leaves behind his wife of 36 years, Valerie Wilder Platt; his children, Melissa Edwards and her husband, Adam of Fernandina Beach and Justin Platt and his wife, Kaitlin of Hilliard; his brother, Louis Platt of St. Augustine; his grandchildren, Westyn, and Brooks Edwards and an expected a new grandson, Julius Fletcher Platt, due the 25th of this month, Julius’s birthday; an uncle and aunt, Buddy and Sissy Platt of Palm Coast as well as several extended family members.
Julius will be laid to rest at Wilder Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
