Kathleen Epps Spicer

Kathleen Epps Spicer, 92 of Fernandina Beach, FL passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2019. Kathleen was born in Kingstree, South Carolina to the late William Ira Epps and Verbia Hinson Epps. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Theo Spicer, one sister and two brothers.

Kathleen graduated with a BA degree from Flora Macdonald College in Red Springs, North Carolina. Following graduation, she taught school in North Carolina and it was during this time that she met her beloved husband, Bill of Jacksonville, Florida.

After they were married in 1950, Kathleen moved to Jacksonville where she lived until several years after her husband�s death. She taught elementary school at Thomas Jefferson, Louis Sheffield and spent the majority of her teaching career at Henry F. Kite all in Jacksonville. She then moved to Fernandina Beach, Florida to be near her son and family. Kathleen was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

She leaves behind her son, Tommy Spicer (Susan) of Fernandina Beach, Florida; daughter, Sharon Mileshko (Tom) of Woodstock, Georgia; four grandchildren, Sarah Spicer Lee (David), Will Spicer (Ashley), Chris Mileshko (Carey), Jordan Mileshko (Stephanie) and six great-grandchildren with one due to arrive in December.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard Funeral Home, 1305 Atlantic Avenue, Fernandina Beach, Florida.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the hour of service at Oxley-heard.

She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Bill in Green Pine Cemetery in Yulee, Florida.

The family requests that memorials be made in her name to Community Hospice of N.E. Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, Florida, 32257
