Kathryn Knee, a resident and attorney in Fernandina Beach, passed peacefully at the Warner Center, on June 4, 2026.

Kate was born January 12 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Maurice Knee and Margaret Knee-Mueller. After completing Law School at the University of Pittsburgh, it became fitting that Kathryn practiced estate planning and probate law, as her father owned Knee Funeral Home in Pittsburgh.

Kathryn was attracted to Fernandina after her sister moved to the city. She first worked with Rogers Towers in Jacksonville, but eventually opened her own practice on South 7th Street and subsequently on South 8th Street.

Kate had served as a Big Sister in Fernandina and as a Eucharistic Minister for St. Michael’s Catholic Church.

Kathryn was predeceased by her parents, her brothers, John Knee and Mark Knee, her sister, Barbara Lavin and niece, Emily Lavin. She is survived by brother, Kevin Knee, nieces, Amanda Pelletier and Rebecca Knee and nephew, Peter Knee.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in Kathryn’s memory to St. Michael’s Catholic Church.
