Lawanna B. Davis

Lawanna Bryant Davis, age 87 of Callahan, FL went home to be with the Lord on November 22, 2022 at the Warner Center for Caring in Fernandina Beach. She was born on October 18, 1935 in Blackshear, Georgia to the late Diaz and Mary Bryant. Lawanna graduated from Blackshear High School in 1953 and then married Adron Parnell Davis in December. They moved to Ft. Eustis, Virginia where Parnell was stationed in the U.S. Army. Their daughter, Debbie, was born there in 1954.

Lawanna and Parnell moved to Fernandina Beach in 1958. Lawanna was employed by Rayonier where she retired after 35 years. She was a long time member of North 14th Street Baptist Church where she served as church clerk. After moving to Callahan, she became a member of First Baptist Church of Gray Gables and served in the Cup Ministry. Lawanna enjoyed RV camping, reading, baking, working in her yard, and playing cards with friends.

In addition to her parents, Lawanna was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Parnell; brother, Buddy Bryant; sister, Maxine Raulerson; son-in-law, Tommy Higginbotham and granddaughter, Carrie Higginbotham.

Lawanna leaves behind her daughter, Debbie Higginbotham; a granddaughter, Ashley (Bryce) Fowler; great grandchildren, Cameron and Brylynn Fowler; a sister, Grace Winn; a brother, Bobby (Linda) Bryant; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley Heard. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Green Pine Cemetery.
