Bonnie Brock

I remember them both from Harris teeter. They were the sweetest couple. Gonna miss them. May God bless the family.

I am sure Mike was a wonderful man. My comments are for Mrs. Capuccio - who was my English teacher almost 60 yars ago and helped inspire me to spend my career in writing and communication. I still think of her often. I saw the Capuccio name in the Miami Herald and had to reach out. Thank you for a life well-lived.

Please accept our deepest sympathies. Mike was a good friend and neighbor. He loved his family very much. Mike was so proud of the life he and Donna built together.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. Michelle, you may remember me from the carpool I shared with your mom in Coral Gables, as I'm Bothwell's mom. May the wonderful memories of your father sustain you in this time of grief.

Michael Joseph Cappucio

2023-11-17

Michael Joseph Cappucio, Esq., “Mike”, passed away peacefully in his daughter’s home on Thursday, November 17th, at the age of 85. A private family service was held on December 12th at Oxley Heard Funeral Home in Fernandina Beach, presided by Father Eric Stelzer of St. Michael’s Catholic Church; followed by military honors at Jacksonville National Cemetery, where he and his wife Donna DeAnna Boutilier Cappucio were then both laid to rest.

Mike was born in Swampscott, Massachusetts. In the 1950’s, Mike proudly served as a sailor in the United States Navy. He later moved to Coral Gables in Miami-Dade, Florida, became a police officer, and married the love of his life, an English school teacher at Ponce de Leon Junior High.

After marrying Donna, Mike graduated from the University of Miami School of Law with a Juris Doctor degree and became an attorney with prestigious law firm Fowler White Burnett for 20 years. From there, Mike joined the highly successful law firm Hayden, Milliken & Boeringer with his college friend and fellow attorney, Reginald Hayden. Throughout his distinguished legal career, Mike also proudly qualified as an attorney for The United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and The Supreme Court of the United States.

Additionally, Mike and his beloved wife Donna were delighted at the birth of their two beautiful daughters while residing in their two lovely homes in Coral Gables and later Bay Point, and the couple subsequently retired to Fernandina Beach where they invested in real estate. Mike and Donna celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary in 2014 before Donna passed away.

Michael is survived by his daughters, Donna Michelle and Janis Marie; grandsons, Ozzie Michael and Charles Vincent; and sister, Lois Worth.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family respectfully requests that donations be made in memory of Mike to either the American Legion, Donation Processing, PO Box 1954, Indianapolis, IN 46206, 1-800-433-3318, www.legion.org/donate or local charity Children’s Home Society of Greater Northeast Florida (First Coast), 3027 San Diego Road, Jacksonville, FL 32207, https://chsfl.org/donate, Phone: (904) 493-7744.
