Thomas B. Zvoch

2019-08-05

Mr. Thomas B. Zvoch, 80, of Fernandina Beach passed away Friday, August 2, 2019 at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville with his family at his side.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA he was a son of the late Andrew and Mary Kundrat Zvoch.

Shortly after high school, he joined the U. S. Air Force and served honorably. While in the Air Force he studied and was a graduate of several aircraft Jet Engine Mechanic Courses. After his time in the Air Force he worked for Grumman Aviation in St. Augustine for several years.

His working career eventually took him to Anheuser-Busch in Jacksonville. There, he was instrumental in the opening of the Metal Container Division. He worked in several other locations around the country where he successfully set up similar operations. Eventually he found himself working in corporate headquarters in St. Louis before he retired. Even after retirement, Tom was never one to sit still. Moving to Fernandina Beach in the early 1990s he owned and operated Quality Bedding on 14th Street for several years.

Also in the early 1990s he made the acquaintance of his future wife, Margaret. After dating several years, they were married. Their marriage would last for the next 25 years. From spending time on the beach to their many travels, including twice a year cruises travelling all over the world, he and Margaret loved each other deeply and enjoyed their time together. His love of music was legendary. As part of his morning routine he would turn on his favorite tunes and listen all day. That love of music was a big part of his love of dancing. Whether as part of a local dance club or lovingly dancing with Margaret in the kitchen, he always enjoyed being able to dance.

He was a longtime parishioner at St. Peters Episcopal Church where he and his wife served in many capacities. They could often be found as ushers or greeters weekly or special services.

In addition to his parents Mr. Zvoch was predeceased by two sisters, Alice Stafford and Rosemary Bodmar and a brother, Richard Zvoch.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Margaret Baker Zvoch; his son, Michael Zvoch and wife, Shannon, of Gainesville, FL; daughters, Sharon Johnson of Jacksonville and Michelle Morrow of Fernandina Beach; a brother, Raymond Zvoch of New Mexico and four grandchildren, Lauren Zvoch, Delaney Zvoch, Kyle Johnson and wife, Hannah and Kristin Johnson as well as several other extended family members.

A service to celebrate and remember Toms life will be held at St. Peters Episcopal Church beginning at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 26, 2019 with the Reverend Stephen Mazingo, Rector, officiating.

He will be laid to rest at St. Peters Cemetery with military honors at a later date.

The family requests that memorials be made in his name to Purple Dove Resale Center C/O Micahs Place, P.O. Box 16287, Fernandina Beach, Florida 32034.

I was so sorry to hear of Toms passing. He was always full of energy and one of my favorite people to dance with. He reminded me of the Eveready bunny. Once you got him on the dance floor, there was no stopping him
