Adam Anthony Vorraso

Adam Anthony Vorraso, age 94 passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 after an extended illness. He was a long-time resident of Milltown, New Jersey and lived the majority of his life in New Jersey before moving to his current residence of Amelia Island, Florida.

Born in New Brunswick, New Jersey he was the son of the late Elario and Rachel Vorraso.

Adam was a World War II veteran; he joined the US Army at the age of 19 and valiantly served in the 5th Army, 45th Division, 179th Regiment, Company F. He saw action in North Africa, Southern Italy and was part of the landing on Anzio, Italy where he was seriously wounded and received a Purple Heart as well as other decorations and citations. He was honorably discharged on October 26, 1945.

Subsequently, he went to work for Celfibe and Personal Products in Milltown, NJ, and retired after 40 years of service. Aside from his parents, Adam was predeceased by Maryann, his wife of 64 years. He was also predeceased by Brothers, James and Anthony, as well as sisters Mary, Candace and Julia.

Adam is survived by his three sons and two daughters-in-law, Thomas and Diane Vorraso of Kill Devil Hills, NC; John and Nancy Vorraso of Yulee, FL; James Vorraso of Mays Landing NJ; a grandson, Adam Vorraso of Tampa, FL, and step-granddaughter Amy Trusler of Daisytown, PA.

He is also survived by his sister Dora Nagy of East Brunswick, NJ.

Adam adored all of his many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and close friends. Adam was a devoted husband, family man and good friend to anyone who knew him. In retirement he enjoyed golfing, woodworking, playing cards and his favorite times were spent with his family and friends. He will always be in our hearts and dearly missed.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Adam�s memory to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida. www.communityhospice.com or the charity of your choice.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard Funeral Home with Father Jose Kallukalam officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the hour of service.

He will be laid to rest in Jacksonville National Cemetery at 1:30 pm with Military Honors.
