Debbie and family. Hadn't seen your dad since he moved away. In years past I would run into him in the post office and we would "shoot the bull". He was a good man and always treated me well. Regrets about unable to attend the service. May he rest in peace.

Adron Parnell "A.P." Davis

Adron Parnell “AP” Davis, 88, of Callahan went to be with the Lord on July 2, 2022 at the Warner Center for Caring in Fernandina Beach.
He was born on July 18, 1933 in Blackshear, GA to the late James and Leola Herrin Davis. Parnell graduated from Blackshear High School in 1952 and then joined the U. S. Army. He married Lawanna “Wannie” Bryant of Blackshear in 1953. While stationed at Ft. Eustis, VA their only daughter, Debbie, was born in 1954. Parnell was honorably discharged in 1955.
Parnell and Wannie moved to Fernandina Beach in 1958 where he worked for the Merita Bread Company as a delivery truck driver. In 1960, he was employed by Container Corporation of America where he remained until his retirement in 1995. He was known as “AP” by many of his friends and coworkers.
AP loved to fish and spent many days boating and fishing in the local waters. He designed and built a house for Wannie and then built a second house on the Satilla River to have more fishing opportunities. He developed a love for RV travel and became a member of “The Over the Hill Gang”. AP was also a member of the Fernandina Beach Shrine Club and devoted much time to supporting their charitable events. He also drove a car in many of the parades.
AP was an active member of North 14th Street Baptist Church until moving to Callahan where he became a member First Baptist Church of Gray Gables.
In addition to his parents AP was preceded in death by brothers, Gerald and Harold Davis as well as a son-in law, Thomas Higginbotham and a granddaughter, Carrie Higginbotham.
AP leaves behind his wife of 68 years, Lawanna; his daughter, Debbie Higginbotham of Callahan; a granddaughter, Ashley (Bryce) Fowler; great grandchildren, Cameron and Brylynn Fowler; a sister, Barbara (Thomas) Wright; a brother, Royce Davis as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 8, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends for the hour prior to the service.
He will be laid to rest in Green Pine Cemetery.
