Alfred Henry Philipp

Mr. Alfred Henry Philipp, age 92 of Fernandina Beach, Florida passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at his residence.

He was born on June 13, 1926 in New Haven, Connecticut to the late August Philipp and Maria Frings.

Mr. Philipp started his military service in the U.S. Navy during World War II and then was called back into service in the U.S. Army in the 1950�s. After his service to our country, he obtained his Master�s Degree in Forestry at the University of Florida. He was employed at Celotex Corporation as Executive Vice President.

After retiring, Mr. Philipp and his wife Patricia relocated from Tampa to Fernandina Beach, Florida where he was an active member of St. Michael�s Catholic Church. He enjoyed giving historical walking tours for the Amelia Island Museum of History and was also a member of the LCI (Landing Craft Infantry) National Association.

Mr. Philipp is preceded in death by daughter Lea Sorrells Stephens and his brother Edward Philipp.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 64 years, Patricia Ann Guthrie Philipp of Fernandina Beach, Florida; children, William A. Philipp and his wife Karen of Madison, Mississippi, Linda Philipp Neyman and her husband Bill of Powder Springs, Georgia, Robert E. Philipp and his wife Tina of Fernandina Beach, Florida, Bernard S. Philipp and his wife Linda of Boca Raton, Florida; sister Trudy Philipp Schmeisser of Athens, Georgia; grandchildren, William A. Philipp,II and his wife Bethany, Leslie Philipp, Christina Philipp, Colin Philipp, Holley Sorrells and great-grandchildren, Liam and Leni Philipp.

A Funeral Mass will be at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at St. Michael�s Catholic Church with Father Jose Kallukalam, Celebrant.

The family will receive friends starting at 11:00 am on Tuesday at Oxley-Heard Funeral Home before processing to the church.

He will be laid to rest at 11:30 am on Friday, November 23, 2018 in Jacksonville National Cemetery with Military Honors.
