Alice Anne Nolan

2020-06-06

Alice Ann Nolan, 59, of Fernandina Beach passed away at home Wednesday, June 3, 2020.

She was born reared in Daytona Beach and was a daughter of the late of Daniel Joseph and Juanita Noy Nolan.

Alice moved to Fernandina Beach some years ago and was employed at Baptist Medical Center-Nassau as a Scheduling Coordinator. In addition to her work at the hospital, she volunteered in the community.

She worked with the American Cancer Societys Relay for Life. Alice also served as a mentor to several of Fernandinas youth over the years. She was particularly proud to watch those youth become successful in school and from there have a good beginning for the life ahead of them.

Outside of her work Baptist Nassau and her community involvement, Alice loved to travel. Whether a short getaway or a longer trip she loved visiting new places.

Alice was of the Catholic faith.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Michael.

She leaves behind her two siblings, Daniel Nolan of Columbus, OH and Linda Henry of Millville, NJ; a niece, Marna Hancock of Nashville, TN as well as Marnas daughters, Brianna and Brittany; and three nephews, Daniel Bo Nolan of Pickerington, OH, Bobby Karl Henry of Millville, NJ and Eric Henry of Mays Landing, NJ.

Her family will gather with friends Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at 10:00 AM in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors. Fr. Jose Kallukallam will officiate.

Later Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 PM, family and friends will gather upstairs at the Crabtrap Restaurant for a time of food and fellowship.

Alice will be laid to rest in New Jersey at a future date.

MAUREEN (MO) SMITH June 6, 2020
Alice was like a sister to me. We went to school together since the 2nd grade. Even though she moved to Jacksonville, we never lost touch. Each time we spoke it was as if there was no distance or time that had passed. She was the most generous person I know, caring for everyone else before herself. She was passionate about the Relay for Life event and volunteered for many years. I will miss her infectious laugh, beautiful soul but most of all her phone calls where she provided great advice. Her faith was the strongest & caring for the children was her top priority. I will miss her forever. My condolences to Danny & Linda, Maria & Brittany & Brianna. She loved you all so much. RIP my dear friend!

There is a spiritual gift named hospitality. Dear Alice has that gift in her heart. She was such a warm welcome to anyone who walked to the nurses station. Her smile, her absolute desire to help those who walked to find a loved one or when a patient t rang for assistance. Alices sweet voice would say, How ca I help you?
Never flustered or revealing her own pain or struggles.
May we life with more kindness and say like Alice, How May I help you .
Alices family and her family at Baptist Nassau will alway miss her.
Me too!

Alice was a kind, giving, and uplifting person. She loved her nieces, Brittany and Brianna, dearly and was involved with all their activities, such as Pop Warner cheerleading.

I have fond memories of working with her as Team Development Chair for Relay for Life in 2011. I had just wanted to be a casual volunteer, but Alice could talk anyone into anything! We drove together to Orlando for a Relay conference, and on the night of the Relay, were up all night at the track, cheering on relayers. She was amazing at fundraising and set what seemed to be impossibly high goals, which she often achieved. The community benefited as a result.

Im sorry we hadnt seen each other in a few years since I moved back to Jacksonville, but I can still hear her infectious laugh! I will miss the opportunity to make her laugh. Hugs to her family :). Alice would want us all to smile.

I am completely lost for words right now, Alice Nolan you will truly be missed, all the things that everyone has said about you is so true(a sweetheart), you never said nothing negative just a smile ? on your face. I can remember one morning your car completely cut off at the light, I was next to you in the left lane, I politely pulled over at the gas station and waited until your car was moved out of the streets. You never saw me, I walked over and tapped on your window, you was looking like where did you come from, I said Alice I can take you to work, her words were A Angel?

Alice, I had known you since grade school. I used to see your father as an usher at St. Pauls Church. However I had not been in touch with you over the years and I will regret that for the rest of my days. As I read the condolences It seems that there are a lot of people who thought highly of you and love you. That makes you a great person. The kind of person who will be greatly, greatly missed by a great many people. You are in a much better place among the angels. So long for now. I will see you soon.
