To one of the most caring and loving persons I had the honor of loving and living with as a teenager and seeing the person he was! Thank you Uncle Alton for caring and all the good times we had together in PA hunting and fishing! Everytime I look at your deer on your wall, I'll think of the times we shared together! I love you and will miss your big laugh!!! Love, Steve

Uncle Alton made my childhood one that most dream of having. From allowing me to spend most weekends with Netta to finding small little chores for us to earn money for treats, he gave love and shared all he had with me as if I were his own. My childhood was extra special because of him and Aunt Margaret.
Alton Floyd Jones, Sr.
2024-03-12
Alton Floyd Jones Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2024, at the age of 91. He was reunited in heaven with his cherished wife, Margaret Anita Jones, and granddaughter, Miranda Crews, who had preceded him in death.
Born in Evergreen, on June 14, 1932, Alton embarked on a journey of love, service, and generosity that touched the lives of all who knew him. He was a Christian man of honor and integrity, dedicated to his family and country. At the age of 17, Alton began proudly serving in the U.S. Army. After his dedicated service, he continued his commitment to bettering his community through his work as a tugboat operator and bridge builder. His life of service continued as he served in the Yulee Volunteer Fire Department for many years.
Alton's greatest joy in life was his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose love knew no bounds. He leaves behind his children, Altie Jones Jr. (Sherry), Nena Meeks (Duane), and Netta Larrison (Jimmy). Alton found immense happiness in watching his family grow, and his legacy lives on through his children and his ten grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Those who knew Alton remember him for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering love. He had a gentle spirit and a warm smile that could brighten even the darkest of days.
In his free time, Alton enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether riding his golf cart, tending to his fruit trees, watching birds, or rocking on his front porch in Pennsylvania. He found solace in nature and cherished the simple pleasures of life.
Visitation services for Alton Floyd Jones Sr. will be held on Monday, March 18, 2024 at 1:00 p.m., with funeral services immediately following at 2:00 p.m. in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors.
He will be laid to rest at Chester Cemetery at a later date.
