Tricia Bohannon

Molly, you were a dear friend to my Mom, Barbara Bohannon, and like a 2nd Mother to me almost all of my life. Your family is my family, and I know they are hurting. Yet, you and Oley raised them well, and they are all wonderful people, who have faith and trust in the Lord..... I know how proud you are of every one of them. Molly, please give Mom and Oley a big hug from me, and Lord please watch over and bless Liz, Jennifer, Raul, Jeffrey and Melinda, and their families. Molly loved her family above all else, inc her siblings/ close sisters!!! I will remember you, Molly, with that twinkle in your eye, your mischevious grin, your big, beautiful brown eyes and warm hug, and that accent I always loved!!! Sending love, hugs and prayers to all of Molly's family, friends and loved ones.

Ms.Molly, You loved my momma and our family as your own. Hearing of your passing broke my heart but I know my momma was there waiting for you with a big smile on her face. You were our kids unofficial grandmother of Amelia Island and the love you gave them couldn’t amount to anything in the world. I know God had his gates wide open for you when you got there. You are so loved and will be deeply missed. Love, Gabe, Melodie and the Nevarez kids

To the family, I'm so very sorry to hear about your mother, abuela, passing away. I dearly loved her. I have so many memories from years ago visiting the house on 7th street, walking with her and her sister Vicky with their little dog down Centre Street. Lunch at Wass drug store downtown. Molly knew everyone in town. She loved to laugh, and her sweet loving gentle spirit will be missed. My thoughts & prayers are with all of you, especially Raul, Elizabeth, Jennifer and Melinda. I loved your mom so very much. She is now in heaven with Vicky, I am sure they are catching up on all the news. Love to all, Marian

Amalia "Molly" Ruiz King

2025-05-02

Amalia "Molly" Ruiz King of Fernandina Beach, Florida, was called to Heaven on May 2, 2025, at the Warner Center in Fernandina Beach with family by her side.

Born on January 25, 1937, in Guatemala City, Guatemala, Central America to Raul Ruiz Castanet and Amalia Esteves de Cermeno. Molly had 16 brothers and sisters, several of whom have predeceased her, along with many nieces and nephews. She left Guatemala at age 13 to study in San Jose, Costa Rica. At age 15, she moved to San Francisco, California, where she graduated from Star of the Sea Academy in June 1955. Molly moved to Fernandina Beach in 1957 and remained there until God called her home.

There were 4,000 people on Amelia Island when she arrived, and she became the town's unofficial, sole Spanish-to-English translator. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and served on several church committees. Molly loved connecting with people and was a greeter at Super Walmart in Yulee for eight years. She retired from the City of Fernandina Beach Finance Department after 25 years of service. She enjoyed traveling, cruising, reading and reminiscing about the early island life.

Molly was most proud of her family and is succeeded by her five children: Elizabeth (Tommy) Seagraves of Kingsland, Georgia; Raul and Jeffrey (Jennifer) Bunch of Fernandina; Jennifer (Michael) Geiger of St. Johns, Florida and Melinda (Robert) Crawford of Fernandina; her 15 grandchildren: Renee Yanak, Howard (Brandy) Matthew, Ashlee McDonald, Heather Nazworth, Tiffany (Jason) Turberville, Jake (Miranda) and Cason Bunch, Stephanie Harper, Megan (Mike) Brooks, Seth (Morgan) Geiger, Kyle (Christy) and Dylan Bunch, Holli (Brian) Peeples and Sean (Valeria) Crawford; and her 18 great-grandchildren: Nash and Molly Flanders, Ward and Savannah McDonald, Thomas Nazworth, Gabriel and Noah Turberville, Reagan Millen, Rowan Bunch, Berley and Camille Brooks, Carter and Henry Geiger, Paisley Bunch, Petal, Aliyah and Baila Souther and Mavvi Peeples.

Amalia of Amelia was a treasure that will never be forgotten and will live in the hearts of so many.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 8th at Oxley Heard Funeral Home from 5 to 7 pm. A mass will be held, on Friday May 9, beginning at 11 am at St. Michael’s followed by a graveside ceremony where she will rest beside her late husband, Oley Owen King, Jr. A luncheon will be held at St. Michael's Parrish Hall thereafter.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift can be given in her name to St Jude at https://www.stjude.org.
