I treasure all the wonderful memories of Angel and the wonderful times we shared. Angel was an amazing friend, and I will miss her forever.
Angelyn Sauls Westcott
2021-08-27
On August 27, 2021, Angelyn “Angel” Sauls Westcott passed away in Fernandina Beach, FL at the age of 83.
Angel was born in Cuthbert, GA on November 30, 1937, to Annie Will and Calvin Wade Sauls. After graduating from Cuthbert High School in 1955, Angel attended college in Statesboro, Georgia, and earned her nursing degree from Albany Junior College in Albany, GA.
She and her husband, James “Jim” Ralph Westcott, met in Atlanta and were married for 41 years. Angel had a successful career as a registered nurse in South Georgia and in Atlanta, Georgia. Angel’s calling was to be a nurse as she enjoyed caring for others. Angel was a loving wife and mother with a deep commitment to her faith, family and her many Golden and Labrador Retrievers that she adored. She was an avid reader and hooked a beautiful primitive rug collection. She also enjoyed the white sands of Amelia Island.
Angel set an example for her children and grandchildren (by whom she was affectionately known as “Gran”) to be deeply grounded in her faith. Angel was compassionate, honest, and loving in her own unique way to so many wonderful friends during her life. She was a cancer survivor and advocate for a cure to breast cancer.
She is predeceased by her husband James “Jim” Ralph Westcott and her parents, Annie Will and Calvin Wade Sauls.
Angel leaves behind her children, Jodie McWhorter of Fernandina Beach, Florida; Stuart McWhorter (daughter-in-law, Leigh Anne McWhorter) of Nashville, Tennessee; Michelle Westcott-Richards (son-in-law, John Richards) of Atlanta, Georgia; Elizabeth Westcott Schelhammer (son-in-law, Kurt Schelhammer) of Atlanta, Georgia.
