Anthony Parchinski

2026-06-19

Anthony Joseph Parchinski, Jr. passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026.

Born on April 27, 1940, in Peckville, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Anthony and Eleanor Parchinski of Dickson City, Pennsylvania.
He graduated from Dickson City High School in 1957. After two attempts to join the United States Navy were derailed by age and eyesight, he attended Keystone Junior College, graduating in 1959. He later earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Pennsylvania State University in 1961 and a master’s in industrial administration from Union College in 1976.
Tony’s greatest regret was not being able to join in the military, but he served his country with dedication and devotion through a career in the aerospace and defense industry spanning 40 years. Thanks to various mergers, he worked for four different employers; General Electric (33 years), Martin Marietta (1 year), Lockheed Martin (2 years) and General Dynamics (4 years). He started in the GE Ordnance Department as a field engineer and retired as the Director of Product Support from General Dynamics Defense Systems in Pittsfield, Massachusetts in 2002. He was a member of the GE Pension and Quarter Century Club. He loved his job and the people he worked with and considered his father-in-law, George Quinlan, his greatest professional mentor.
Tony enjoyed all sports and rooted fiercely for the Penn State Nittany Lions, Philadelphia Eagles, New York Yankees and New England Patriots. He was an avid golfer and long-standing member of the Saturday Morning Rotating Foursomes League at Berkshire Hills Country Club. He loved nordic skiing through Canoe Meadows and the state parks of Berkshire County. He picked up cycling later in life and enjoyed chasing his wife’s record of pedaling over 30,000 miles around their beloved Fernandina Beach community. After retiring to Amelia Island, he became a dedicated shell hunter and logged many days volunteering for beach clean up efforts. He was also an avid amateur gardener and enjoyed tending to his flowers and salad vegetables. Another of his favorite pastimes was chatting up visitors outside the downtown coffee shop. He loved good stories, gospel music and a stiff Manhattan. He would always toast “to the good guys”.
Tony was a member of the St. Adalbert’s Polish National Catholic Church in Dickson City, Pennsylvania where he served as an altar boy and acolyte. Later, he became a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pittsfield, Massachusetts where he served as a Trustee, Usher and assisted with Scouting activities. He also dedicated many hours to church renovations and upgrades as the volunteer building and grounds coordinator.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Eleanor Parchinski, his sister, Josephine Kundla of Moscow, PA, his wife, Sharon (Quinlan) Parchinski and son, Derek Parchinski of St Mary’s GA. He is survived by his daughter, Haven Parchinski of Dallas, TX, daughter-in-law, Melissa Parchinski of Park City, UT and granddaughters, Dr. Kaley Parchinski of Durham, NC and Sarah Parchinski of Lakewood, CO.
In honor of their wonderful kindness to Tony during his later years, his family would be honored if donations were made in his memory to the Nassau County Council on Aging, 1901 Island Walkway, Fernandina, FL 32034, or at nassaucountycouncilonaging.org.
