Dear Family, So very sorry fir your loss. Even though I have not seen her in many years I have thought if her often. Mrs. Betty and Mr. Walter were such sweet people . May God give you comfort. Many prayers for you all. all.

Betty Jean Shook

Mrs. Betty Jean Shook, 89, of Yulee passed away Monday, July 31, 2023 at the Morris Center for Caring in Jacksonville.

She was born in Tallassee, AL and was a daughter of the late Jewel I. and Maxie Hammock Warrick.

Mrs. Shook was a long-time and active member of Springhill Baptist Church where loved singing in the choir. She was a homemaker but served as a volunteer in a Pregnancy Clinic.

She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be remembered for always having a gift for each of them across the holidays of each year. She worked in her yard and enjoyed gardening as long as her health allowed. Mrs. Shook was also a dedicated shopper who enjoyed finding the best deal and loved couponing.

In addition to her husband, Walter Lee Shook and her parents, she was predeceased by three grandchildren, Daryl Kevin Shook, Jr., Maggie LeAnne Shook and Melissa Shook as well as a sister, Bibbie Lamb and two brothers, Mac Warrick and Jewel Warrick.

She leaves behind her children, Walter Lee “Joey” Shook, Jr and his wife, Karen of Glen St. Mary, Alan Ray Shook and his wife, Nancy of Reedy, WV, Laura Ann Cole and her husband, James of Yulee, Daryl Shook and his wife, Crystal of Jacksonville and Timothy Scott Shook and his wife, Lia of Yulee; a sister, Annie Ruth Strickland of Jacksonville; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as a large extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services for Mrs. Shook will be held Friday, August 4, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Springhill Baptist Church. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM until the hour of the service.

She will be laid to rest beside her husband at the church cemetery.

The family asks she be remembered with donations to Community Hospice and Palliative Care of Northeast Florida.
