Beverly �Bev� Hegarty, M.D. departed this life on Sunday morning, December 4, 2016 .

She is survived by her loving husband of sixty one years, John �Jack� Hegarty, her daughter, Suzanne Peregrine (Michael) and their sons, her grandsons, William, Peter and Samuel and her daughter; Holly Jehle (Michael) and their sons, her grandsons, Christopher, David and John, and her son, John Hegarty III and his daughter, her granddaughter, Kathryn.

Dr. Hegarty lived in Detroit and Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and Glencoe, Illinois prior to relocating to the Amelia Island Plantation in 2001. She and her husband had spent time each year for more than two decades at the Plantation before making Amelia Island their permanent home.

She graduated from Wayne State University and the University of Michigan Medical School before practicing medicine at Sinai Hospital and Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit and Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. She was President of her medical sorority and a member of the American Medical Association, the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the Illinois Society of Anesthesiologists.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Mission in Yulee with the Reverend Father Rafal Mazurowski, Celebrant.

Dr. Hegarty will be laid to rest in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield, Michigan.
