Bonnie Jean Milton
2022-04-14
Bonnie Jean Greene Milton, 76, of Fernandina Beach, Florida, passed away Thursday, April 14, in the Jane and Bill Warner Center for Caring in Fernandina Beach, following a lengthy battle with dementia.
The youngest of seven children, Bonnie was born to Kossie Greene and Jennie Aline Kelly Greene in Lake City, Florida, alongside siblings Malcolm Greene, Betty Thomas, Buddy Greene, Dale Greene, Steve Greene and Sivilla “Fiddy” Meadows. After losing her parents at the age of ten, Bonnie was raised by her eldest sister, Betty, and eldest brother, Malcolm.
As a young woman, Bonnie served as a waitress and housekeeper; however, her love for children led her to a profession in childcare. After a long career, Bonnie retired as a Director of Child Care at the Fernandina Beach YMCA.
Bonnie’s most beloved role was that of a mother to her only son, Joseph Masterson ‘Matt’ Paisley – or Matty, as she affectionately referred to him. As a single mother, Bonnie fought to ensure the best life she could for her son. Matt has two children, Mikayla and Mikenzie Paisley, with Melissa Paisley – all of whom Bonnie loved with just as much passion as she did her own son.
She spent much of her life living close to sister Fiddy, her husband, Carson Meadows and their sons Dwayne and Tim Meadows. As the disease progressed, Bonnie was cared for by her son and daughter-in-law, Jackie Paisley, whom she grew very close to during their time together. In 2019, Bonnie moved to Fernandina Beach Rehabilitation, where she continued to enjoy her love of music, bingo and animals on a weekly basis.
A passion for her family, and a heart full of love, Bonnie lived a long and fulfilled life. She will be missed beyond measure. May she forever rest in paradise.
A memorial service to honor the life of Bonnie Jean Greene Milton will be held on Saturday, May 7, at 11:00am at Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors in Fernandina Beach with her nephew, Pastor David Thomas officiating.
