Condolences:

Kathy Bland

I'm sorry to hear of your dad's passing. I met him briefly on occasion through your Mother who I work at the hospital. She was a lovely person and I lost touch with her. I know you will miss them both.

Gary & Nancy Marlow

Larry and Betty were wonderful neighbors when they lived next door to us. Prayers for family and friends.

Jim and Phyllis Moore of Clarksburg, WV

Larry was a friend of long standing and a good guy.

Carlin Lawrence (Larry) Hall

2022-04-13

Carlin Lawrence (Larry) Hall of Fernandina Beach passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, April 13. He was born in Huntington West Virginia on January 27, 1934. In 2006 he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Betty Ann Hall. Larry and Betty were the proud parents of four boys - Mark, Jeffrey, Carlin II and Timothy, who provided them with six grandchildren and two (so far) great-grandchildren. Larry was a proud native of the state of West Virginia and loved watching WVU Mountaineer sports.

Larry met Betty on a blind date in the early 1950s, and they married in 1956 while Larry was serving in the Army. After his honorable discharge he took a job with Bauer Lumber in Fairmont, WV and building supply retailing would define the rest of his professional career until his retirement in the mid-1990s, including a stint as president of the West Virginia Homebuilders Association. His career took him and his growing family from Fairmont WV to Cumberland MD, Morgantown WV, Beckley WV and finally Fernandina Beach over a span of nearly 40 years.

Larry was a lifelong golfer, a sport he pursued avidly upon his retirement up until health concerns sidelined him in his early 80s. He also worked part-time as a marshal at the Fernandina Beach Golf Club. He was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church of Fernandina Beach and participated in their mission trips to the mountains of central Appalachia and volunteered with their Mobility Worldwide team based at the church.

In recent years Larry had an active travel and social life with Ms. Claudiemae Mills Speed of Fernandina Beach, who became like a member of our family. Larry loved his family, his neighbors & friends, sports, politics, and a good Scotch now and then. He will be dearly missed by all his friends & family.

A funeral service will be held at Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors in Fernandina Beach on Friday, April 22 at 3:00pm. He will be interred next to Betty at the family cemetery in his beloved mountains of West Virginia.
