Carmelita Aquino Ledford, age 77, of Fernandina Beach passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville.

She was born on July 22, 1940 in Manila, Philippines, and grew up attending Catholic schools. This carried over into her adult life as she was always a faithful Christian.

Carmelita was a strong independent woman and raised her children to be the same. She adored her family which was evident by the many photos displayed at her home. She was an avid bingo player at the Lion�s Club in Yulee and was called the �Bingo Queen� by all her friends. Generous, patient and kind, she would give the shirt off her back to those in need.

She leaves behind her longtime companion, Brian Knight of Fernandina Beach, FL, children; Doris �DeeDee� and Paul Saks of Jacksonville, FL, Billy and Mechelle Nelson of Jacksonville, FL and Erica Ledford of Seymour, TN, brother, Antonio Aquino, sister, Corazon Harkey, grandchildren; Andy Carter, Lyndsay Cook, Tiffany Hildebrand, Amber Nelson, Harley Statham and great-grandchildren; Austin Hildebrand, Ava Hildebrand, Amelia Hildebrand, Parker Tilly, Clay Carter and Emery Cook.

Services will be at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until the hour of service at Oxley-Heard.
