Cecil Bleavens Wood

Cecil B. Wood passed away at Baptist Medical Center Nassau in Fernandina Beach on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at the age of 84.
He was born in Ackerly, Texas on November 20, 1936. He was preceded in death by his Father, Primm Wood, Mother, Gladys Quinn Wood and brother Edward Wood.
He survived by his two sisters, Dorothy Gayle Powell of Monroe, Georgia and Claudene French of Amarillo, Texas.
He graduated from Lamesa High School in Lamesa, Texas and soon moved to Hawaii spending 22 years in the United States Navy. He began his Naval Career with the US Naval Construction Force (Navy Seabees) then joined a SEAL Team while serving in the Vietnam War. He was a recipient of the Navy Cross for his heroic valor and was awarded four Purple Hearts for his bravery. He retired from the Navy with the rank of Master Chief.
Cecil married Beverly Ann Hale on January 8, 1965 in Lamesa, Texas. They had two daughters, Angela Gayle Wood, born in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1966 and Regina Ann Wood McNutt born in Tyler, Texas in 1969. He was also very proud of his two grandchildren, Chandler Stephens Bobo, age 19, and Cydney Ann Bobo, age 15.
He was a wonderful father who loved his family and had a strong faith in Christ. He served as a Church Elder for many years at Airport Freeway Church of Christ in Euless, Texas.
He married Edith Jane Condry from Newport, Rhode Island, in 2001. They called Florida home for almost 20 years living in both Ocala and Fernandina Beach.
Cecil was a strong patriot and leader, served his country, and was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He touched so many lives in a positive way and will never be forgotten.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 6th from 2pm � 4pm at the Oxley-Heard Funeral Home in Fernandina Beach, Florida.
Service and burial will be held at the Jacksonville National Cemetery on Monday, December 7, 2020 at 11:00am.
