Charles Everett Thigpen

Charles Everett Thigpen, 56, of Yulee, Florida passed away on December 28, 2023 surrounded by his family.

Charles was born on August 19, 1967 in Fernandina Beach, Florida to Rodney and Nelda Thigpen. He grew up in Yulee, Florida and graduated from Fernandina Beach High School in 1985. He worked at Westrock for over 30 years as Recovery Boiler Operator and was a lifelong resident of Yulee.

Charles was a kind, patient, and loving son, husband, father and grandfather. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, grilling and gardening along with other hobbies. Charles was also a passionate lifelong Florida Gator fan.

Charles leaves behind his mother, Nelda Thigpen, wife, Joyce Fisher Thigpen, brother, Robin Thigpen (wife Valerie), sister, Gayla Usina (husband Joe), daughters Tara Teal (husband Jesse), Ashton Thigpen Johnson (husband Mark), Amelia Moran (husband Matt) and son Aaron Hardison (spouse Gabby). Charles and Joyce also have ten grandchildren, Jett, Juliet, Joselyn, Grady, Justin, Waylon, Legend, Erin, Ariana and Kinsley.

The family will receive friends and family on Tuesday, January 2, 2023 from 5-7PM at Oxley-Heard Funeral Home in Fernandina Beach, Florida.

A private funeral service will held on Wednesday, January 3, 2023. After which, Charles will be laid to rest at Hughes Cemetery in Yulee, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to a local charity of your choice.

Charles was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, papa, uncle and loved by many. He will be dearly missed.
