Charles H. Schopf, 93, of Fernandina Beach, FL, passed away on February 2nd at Warner Hospice.
Born Feb 19, 1931, in Buffalo, NY, to Harold P. and Ardath L Tagg Schopf. He graduated from SUNY Fredonia as a music/education major and married Jacqueline A. Jones in 1952.
After graduating from college, they began their teaching careers in the Central Valley of California, then Sonoma County, and eventually moved back to Western NY. Retiring in 1991, they moved to Fernandina Beach, where he worked at the Ritz-Carlton for 20 years.
He was an accomplished pianist who was always seen outside working in his yard, riding his bike or taking long walks.
A loving husband, father, and grandfather, he had a wonderful sense of humor and was always cheerful and optimistic.
He is predeceased by his wife, Jacqueline, parents, brother James R. Schopf, and sister Marilyn J. Schopf Hinton.
He leaves behind three children: Charles (Lisa Beth) Schopf, Lisa Ann (William) Bauer, and Sharla Jean Parker. He also leaves behind five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
No immediate service is planned.
Donations can be made in his memory to the Nassau Humane Society.
