Charlie R. Pete Crum
2020-09-17
Charlie R. Pete Crum, 64, of Yulee passed away at UF Health, North in Jacksonville on September 15, 2020 after a seven year battle with Lou Gehrigs disease.
Pete was born in Williamson, WV and was a son of the late Louella Leonard.
He graduated from Kermit High School in Kermit, WV and in his younger days loved playing basketball and tennis. Even as he got older he was able to beat his daughters at tennis.
A roofer by trade, he moved to Yulee in 2004 along with his wife Kathy. He loved fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed watching football. Pete had a caring heart and became the neighborhood Dad to several over the years. His wit and sense of humor made an impression on all who knew him. For several years he also served as the maintenance supervisor at Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors.
He was predeceased by his wife, Kathy in 2012. With her passing he lost the love of his life. Pete continued to celebrate Kathys birthday each year after her passing. His family said his passing on the day before her birthday was because he could not stand another birthday without her.
In addition to his wife, Pete was predeceased by a grandson, Anthony Scartz.
He leaves behind his four children, Stephanie Crum of Yulee, Jamie Crum of Columbus, OH, Melissa (Sherman) Nicholas of Huntington, WV and Charles Crum of Yulee; a brother, Wayne Leonard of Delaware, OH; his grandchildren, Ethan Walters, Roseann Walters, Donovan Kasser, and Steven Travis; his two great grandchildren, Davina Scartz and Wyatt Walters as well as many friends and co-workers.
There are no services planned for Pete at this time
