Christopher Brian Murray
2017-09-26
Christopher Brian Murray, age 49, of Fernandina Beach went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 24, 2017.
He was born on July 25, 1968 in Greenwood, SC to Lamar and Beth (Groover) Murray.
The family moved to Jacksonville, FL where Chris graduated from Stanton Prep School and then attended Florida State University. He earned his flight credentials at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Arizona and began his career as a pilot for US Air. He moved on to TWA and was currently First Officer for American Airlines.
During an economic down-turn he earned his General Contractors License and remodeled a number of houses in the Fernandina Beach area.
Chris loved his family. His sons were the joy of his life. He enjoyed football, the outdoors, especially anything on the water and boating.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 6 years, Lauren (Langley) Murray, his parents, Lamar and Beth Murray, sons; Trey Christopher (Kaeleen) Murray, Cale Brian Murray, Colt Dustin Murray, Lake Cameron Murray and their mother, Patty Murray. Son, Dillon Coe, granddaughter, Jetlynn America Murray, brother, Keith (Allison) Murray, sisters; Amy (Jason) Neil and Michelle (Pat) Sharpe, parents-in-law, Furman and Jeannie Langley, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many close friends.
Our hearts break but we give thanks for the love and times spent with our beloved brother, son, father and spouse.
Services will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Wain Wesberry officiating.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Oxley-Heard.
He will be laid to rest in Chester Cemetery in Yulee, FL.
