Clara Evatt Bass of Yulee, Florida passed away on July 4th 2025 at the Warner Center for Caring in Fernandina Beach, Florida..

Born on November 9th , 1941 in Chester, Florida to Bert and Edna (Cook) Evatt. She was the youngest of eleven children and lived most of her life in the Yulee area. She was a faithful member of New Life Baptist Church and a loving friend to all who knew her.

She was married to Connie Bass for 42 years prior to his passing, together they raised four children. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially shopping and eating together. Her home was always a center of warmth, love and laughter. Clara was employed as a bus driver for the Nassau County School District for 24 years until her retirement.

Clara is preceded in death by her husband Connie Bass, son Jason Bass and grandson Harley Bass. She was also preceded in death by siblings Vincent Evatt, Forrest Evatt, Junior Evatt, Vivian Freeman, Lavan Cardell, Nita Wilder, Lillian Ryals, Margaret Jones and Betty Lou Hickox.

She is survived by her children Teresa (Danny) Bryant, Alicia (Andy) Woolard, Kevin (Tonya) Bass and her brother Fred “Pete” Evatt. Fourteen grandchildren, 19 great grand children and many nephews and nieces also mourn her loss.

The family would like to offer their sincerest appreciation to her neighbors and dear friends Robert and Darlene Hinson for their years of companionship and care for our beloved Mother.

Funeral service will be at New Life Baptist Church at 11 am on Wednesday July 9th.

The family will receive friends from 5 – 7pm on Tuesday July 8th at Oxley - Heard Funeral Home in Fernandina Beach, Florida.

She will be laid to rest in Chester Cemetery.
